  3. Births Register – there is a legal requirement to register all births in Guernsey within 30 days from date of birth. Find out how here.
  4. Child Minding – contact list – contact the States of Guernsey Early Years Team (SEYT) to receive a list of currently available childminders.

  6. Family Allowance – a weekly tax free benefit payable to people living in Guernsey or Alderney who are bringing up children and meet eligibility criteria.
  7. Family Proceedings Advisory Service (FPAS)– The Family Proceedings Advisory Service (previously the Safeguarder Service)  was set up to represent the interests of children and young people in public and private legal proceedings under The Children (Guernsey and Alderney) Law, 2008.
  8. Grandparents Rights – information about how Guernsey law recognises the important role that grandparents can play in children’s lives.
  9. Maternity & Paternity Leave – link to information on maternity, paternity and adoption leave.
  10. Mediation (FPAS) – a leaflet from the Family Proceedings Advisory Service explaining what mediation is in the context of a family breakdown, and what issues might be discussed and resolved to mitigate stress and upset for children and young people.
  11. Parental Responsibility – link to document detailing the legal responsibilities of a parent under the Children (Guernsey & Alderney) Law 2008.
  12. Protecting Children – information on action that can be taken against child abuse on island, and the support available for victims and families affected.
